While updates to operating systems are a good thing, what it means for smartphone users on jailbroken/rooted devices is that by upgrading, you will lose jailbreak or root access to your phone. Well the good news is that if you were planning on updating your jailbroken iOS device to version 5.1.1, you're in luck as the latest build of Redsn0w will still provide jailbreak access to your iOS device albeit a tethered one. What this means is that should you need to reboot your phone for whatever reason, it will have to be plugged into your computer. Not really a huge deal but it can be highly inconvenient at the worst of times.
