China Mobile May Finally Be Getting The iPhone

China Mobile May Finally Be Getting The iPhone

China Mobile, the world's largest mobile carrier, has never carried the iPhone. Both Apple and the carrier haven't been able to reach a deal, while two of China Mobile's rivals in the country have already been officially selling iPhones for quite some time now. It was rumored earlier this year that perhaps the carrier might finally receive the next generation iPhone. A few weeks ago Apple CEO Tim Cook met with the carrier's chief in China, who said that they were keen on selling the iPhone but technical and commercial issues remained.

Google announces Android has surpassed 1 billion device activations

Google announces Android has surpassed 1 billion device activations

Google's Sundar Pichai has just announced (on Google+) that Android device activations have surpased 1 billion. This is a major milestone for Google, a company who is striving to have as many activations as there are people in this vast world. While we're quite a bit far off from that happening, there's no doubt Android has been like an unstoppable steam train over the years. And Google has mentioned they would settle for a short-term goal of getting to 10% of the world's population.
It was just a few short months ago that Google announced Android reached 900 million activations.

Microsoft dashes dreams of Android-based Nokia phone by pulling a Google & buying Nokia

And there you have it, folks — any sliver of hope that Nokia would ever make a phone that runs Android has been shut down, as Microsoft has officially bought the company (particularly the wireless products and services business). We imagined Microsoft and Nokia would eventually look to make this happen after the two companies struck up an exclusive deal for the latter to make Windows-based smartphones for the former, and now it looks like that dream has been fully realized.

Julie's gadget diary - 30 days without TV

Julie's gadget diary - 30 days without TV

If you look up the term “couch potato” in the dictionary, you'll probably see my picture. I've always loved TV and easily get hooked on shows which I'll faithfully follow from the premier episode to its finale. I like sitcoms, movies, medical dramas, sci-fi, fantasy, talent shows, some reality shows, etc. At one point last year, Jeanne and I decided it was time to cut back on all of our TV watching, so we made a list of all the shows we watched and then picked 5 shows each to stick with. That worked for awhile, but as new shows started, we crept back up to too much time in front of the TV.

Another day, another iPhone 5C leak. This latest tidbit comes from the famous Twitter leaker evleaks, who have chimed in regarding Case-Mate cases for the alleged upcoming iPhone 5C. The case in question is a foldable-style flip cover case that also doubles as a stand for the device, much like we've seen on the iPad.
They then quickly followed it up with a leak of a combination hardshell case with silicon inside.

Rumors have been running rampant about Verizon wanting to give Vodafone $130 billion in cash and stock options to gain 100% control of their Verizon Wireless division, but the news is now official. Verizon has announced that the aforementioned transaction is real, it's happening, and it's going to mean good things for a lot of happy investors. For starters, it means those folks will enjoy a 2.9% increase in quarterly dividends, bringing the value up to 53 cents per share. A great deal of the transaction will be made possible by a $61 billion credit agreement with J.P. Morgan Chase, one of the world's leading financiers.
