Try Out Web Store Apps Without Any Installation

It is every intention of any parent to want to see their little one grow up and succeed in life, and I guess that the same can be said for any software or hardware company to see their apps and devices be hugely successful on the market. Well, Google for one, has every intention to see Chrome apps fly, and the Internet search giant has done its fair bit in the past by throwing in better notifications, in-app payments for that added touch of convenience, and an app launcher in the browser, among others.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 for Verizon drops to $170

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 for Verizon drops to $170

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 launched on Verizon in the US early last month on $300 with contract. In the spirit of Black Friday, the price of the flagship phablet has dropped to $170 on the same deals. The $170 price comes from Amazon and doesnÂ't seem to be a part of the etailer's Black Friday promotions (meaning it should be available even after today). This price is for new Verizon accounts.

Upgraders will have to pay a bit more - $200. The Galaxy Note 3 is also available from Verizon's own site at that price.

For comparison, the Note 3 is $220 with a contract with Sprint for new accounts and $300 for upgrades.

US Military Caught Pirating Software, To Pay $50 Million In Fines

US Military Caught Pirating Software, To Pay $50 Million In Fines

Crime does not pay, and certainly it is a crime to steal something that does not belong to you in the first place. Software piracy is a very big issue that needs to be tackled, and Apptricity, the maker of logistics software that is used to track down the location of soldiers as well as shipments in critical missions, has decided to bring the US Government to court after the defaulted on software license fees. This means that the US military had been running on unlicensed copies of the software, which would be tantamount to piracy – and the kicker is this – it has been going on for nearly 10 years.

Man Throws Away Hard Drive With More Than 7,500 Bitcoins Within

Bitcoin, the virtual currency that has gained plenty of attention in recent times, is back in the news, but with a rather unfortunate twist to it. No, I am not referring to its value dropping to less than a dollar, but rather, one man who has spent a few years (since 2009) to mine more than 7,500 Bitcoins, might now be able to receive a single cent for all his effort. According to The Guardian, a certain James Howells of Wales claimed that he threw away an unwanted hard drive which was first installed in a Dell notebook four years back, and that notebook's main purpose was to mine Bitcoins.

2003-2004 Isuzu SUVs recalled for suspension corossion woes

Here's a brand we haven't written about in some time. Isuzu is recalling 8,816 2003 Rodeo Sports and 2003 to 2004 Rodeo and Axiom models that are registered in just about any state that uses salt on winter roads. That means Isuzu owners in states as far east as Maine, as far south as Kentucky and as far west as Minnesota will need to report in with their vehicles for repairs. This recall follows a previous corrosion-related issue for 2002 Axioms and Rodeos.
The problem, which is no doubt exacerbated by road salt, has to do with corrosion around the forward mounting point for the lower link of the rear suspension.

AT&T was one of the first carriers to get Android 4.3 for the Samsung Galaxy S4, which meant it was also the first carrier to notice a big issue with the OTA upgrade. The carrier had to suspend rollouts until Samsung got the issue fixed, but they're starting to roll it back out now that things are all keen and peachy. This upgrade will bring the premium suite features all other 4.3 Samsung devices have gotten, including improved camera features, Samsung Knox security and more. China Mobile Might Launch Samsung's Flagships Alongside The iPhones

It was recently confirmed by China's official state news agency that China Mobile is going to switch on its commercial 4G service on December 18th. On that day it will also finally launch the new iPhones, over the past few months it has been rumored quite a few times that China Mobile is going to carry both iPhones this year. If reports coming out of China are true, the iPhone 5c and iPhone 5s might not be the only TD-LTE capable devices that the world's largest mobile carrier launches on December 18th. YouTube App Teardown Points To Possible Music Pass Service

YouTube App Teardown Points To Possible Music Pass Service

For an app to remain the same without receiving any updates or upgrades at all from the developer does not bode well for its future – in fact, it would mean the app would have a relatively short shelf life since competitors would have far outstripped it in terms of progress in the long run. Having said that, popular mobile app YouTube is in line for yet another update, where a recent APK teardown points (APK stands for Application Package File, and is a file format for the Android ecosystem) to the very real possibility of a Music Pass service.

Microsoft Targets The Galaxy Tab In Ad This Time Around

We have seen just how cheeky Microsoft can get by targeting some of the rival tablets in its ads recently, where the Surface RT was seen firing a salvo at the Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 from Samsung, while Apple's iPad Air was not exempted either, as it was compared to the Surface 2. This time around, we have seen Microsoft aim their crosshairs at the Samsung Galaxy Tab, where said tablet was lambasted for not having a full sized USB port, unlike Microsoft's Surface RT tablet, of course.

In the case of Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare, it looks like the title will be making its way to the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 4 some time after its initial release on the Xbox One.

When Motorola first announced the Moto X, one of the coolest customizable options we saw was how customers could potentially choose a wooden backplate for the handset, which is definitely different and more unique from your typical color options. Unfortunately until today, no word on when the wooden backplate option will make its way into the Moto Maker site, but last we heard it was tipped for a Q4 2013 release. For those of us living in developed countries and cities, seeing a smartphone is not an uncommon sight. Instead, seeing something with a feature phone would be more of a surprise. However despite being exposed to smartphones, not everyone around the world has one due to a variety of reasons, such as availability and pricing and also the needs of the user, which is why some turn to feature phones which are not only cheap, but get the job done such as calling and messaging. In any case what about the future.

While the Z30 isn't exactly the most powerful smartphone available at the moment, and nor is BlackBerry an extremely popular operating system for mobile devices (it still has a pretty loyal following though), $199.99 did seem a tad pricey especially given that there are other options out there that can be had for a similar, if not lower price.

Some concept cars make the rounds of the auto shows and are then retired. But a number of automakers are showing that a fresh coat of paint can go a long way towards rejuvenating a show car and giving it a new lease on life – at least as far as the auto show circuit is concerned. Lexus did that recently with the LF-LC concept, initially unveiling it in red at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show, then repainting it a dark shade of blue for the subsequent shows in Australia and LA. Mini did the same with the Rocketman concept.

While the GDK still isn't ready for prime time, Google Developers did announce via their G+ page that the Glass Mirror API has finally been opened to all. The Mirror API — while not as full featured as the GDK — utilizes cloud APIs to build web apps for Glass, not apps that run natively on the hardware. These are the type of apps we've seen “running” on Glass at the moment.

Switched On: The Yoga Tablet does kickstands with a twist

Lenovo has also released a Bluetooth keyboard cover for the 10-inch Yoga Tablet. Still, unlike the Surface, Lumia 2520, Dell Venue 11 Pro and other large Windows tablets, there seems to be less effort focused on how to recreate the laptop and more on low pricing to stay competitive with other Android tablets. As with the original Sony Tablet S' wedge design, there's something to be said for a bit of bulk at one end to help hold a large-screened device in one hand.

2015 Subaru WRX STI headed for Detroit, more WRX details leaked

The debuts of the 2015 Subaru WRX and the Legacy Concept at the Los Angeles Auto Show next week are kind of hogging the Subaru spotlight, making it easy to forget that there is a more potent, more aggressive version of the small sedan waiting in the wings. And based on a rumor from Australia, we'll see the sportier WRX STI at the Detroit Auto Show in January. The report comes from Motoring in Australia, which claims that a more potent version of the WRX will make its debut in the Motor City, and that it will do so with an even 300 horsepower (five fewer than the current STI) and 290 pound-feet of torque (identical to the current car).
