BitTorrent Going Legal Next Year, Says Exec

BitTorrent, the company responsible for developing the innovative technology that delivers gargantuan files across the Internet, is heading into a new direction. BitTorrent Executive Director for Marketing, Matt Mason, says that the company is planning to “align itself with the entertainment industry and legally distribute movies, music, and books online.” Apparently BitTorrent wants to prove that it can go beyond offering free downloads by generating more sales. So far, the company already has over 160 million users of its two software clients – BitTorrent and μTorrent.

Engineers will work to sharpen the suspension and brakes while offering more horsepower and revised aesthetics. In addition, Nissan will seek to burnish Nismo's credibility and visibility by putting forth bigger efforts in various motorsports series.

Volkswagen Eos won't be replaced, Golf Cabriolet possible?

This week's Los Angeles Auto Show plays host to the coming out party for the 2013 Volkswagen Beetle Convertible, which once again gives the German automaker a pair of four-seat convertibles clustered within striking distance of each other's price ranges. That won't be the case for long, however, as the recently refreshed Eos folding hardtop convertible won't get a successor. The handwriting has been on the wall for the slow-selling model, which is priced above the new Beetle droptop, starting at $34,350 despite offering a similar powertrain to the Beetle Turbo, which rings up at $27,795 (base 2.5-liter Beetle Convertibles start at $24,495).

After having all of the official details dropped a few weeks ago, and judging the significance of the price tag just a bit later, we're finally getting our first look at Lamborghini's newest drool-inducer, the Aventador LP700-4 Roadster. News flash: It's just as good-looking in person as it is in stock shots. That's right, if our fresh gallery of images from the show floor are any indication, buyers with fat-enough bank accounts to put the 700-horsepower V12 Lambo in the garage will not be disappointed with it aesthetically.

Casio wants to have a say in the whole deal with the fx-CP400 that will arrive not too long after Texas Instrument's color-screened TI-84+ appeared on the horizon. What Casio offers with the fx-CP400 Graphing Calculator is this – a 4.8" stylus-driven display at 320 x 528 resolution, with the ability to switch from vertical to horizontal modes with but a single touch of a button.

RichardSolo FreeWheelin Audio System for Helmets review

FreeWheelin attached to clip with round charging cable. Bluetooth speakers are becoming quite popular, since most folks are carrying their music on their phones or tablets. Sure, plugging in an AUX cable gives a better connection in most cases, but trying to use something while its tethered, or having something fall off the edge of a counter because it was precariously balanced next to the stereo and power outlets is a drag. I've found Bluetooth also is much more flexible when sharing devices between folks. Once you learn the pairing process, it's trivial to connect from another device.

Remember just a few days ago, we were talking about how Will.i.am intends to turn your smartphone, the iPhone in particular, into a "genius phone". 2013 Dodge Charger pays homage to its past with limited-edition Daytona package

The original Dodge Charger Daytona was a bullet-nosed, winged menace on racetracks and is an amazingly collectible classic car today, and Dodge is hoping to bring back some of that nostalgia with the 2013 Dodge Charger Daytona. Limited to just 2,500 units, this new Daytona adds a little more styling and exclusivity than the similarly named package brought to the sedan from the 2006 through 2009 model years. We saw our first glimpse of this new package earlier in the week, but now we get to see the car in all of its blue glory at the LA Auto Show.

Slow-mo backwards motorcycle crashes look a lot less painful

Riding a motorcycle can be a dangerous business – no two ways about it. And riding hard and fast, on and around the the legendary Mulholland Highway can be riskier still. Especially, as is evident from this exceptionally creepy video, if one happens to be hot-dogging it for on-lookers and cameras. Of course, motorcycle crash videos are a dime a dozen in this era of YouTube. That's why one enterprising filmmaker has taken a collection of some spectacular lay-downs, and played the tape backwards.

The 2013 Ford Focus in ST trim recently beat the Volkswagen GTI in our head-to-head comparison, and now the Focus has another feather in its cap: earning a five-star Overall Vehicle Score from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's New Car Assessment Program, something it failed to do in this generation's first year of production. Already touted as one of 33 passenger cars on NHTSA's testing list for model year 2013, both the four-door and five-door Focus achieved the same marks: four stars for the frontal crash and rollover tests, five stars for the side crash test.

A few updates are in store for the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee, and while we've told you about them before, we're now getting our first glimpse at the refreshed SUV without all the heavy camouflage. Up front, new headlights with LED running lamps flow into a new front fascia design with a smaller seven-slat grille and some curvy bodywork that flows up underneath the headlamp clusters. (With the black tape still covering part of the fascia, can anyone else see a bit of Chrysler 300 in those headlights?) Revisions have been made to the Jeep's lower front end, as well; and all in, it's not as aggressive (or handsome) as the current model.

Microsoft may have inadvertently given Windows 8 pirates a working activation key

Microsoft may have inadvertently given Windows 8 pirates a working activation key

Back in early August, the final copy of Windows 8 was leaked online which we assume was much to the dismay of Microsoft. Pirates got ahold of the copy and distributed it, but thanks to Microsoft's activation technology, the pirates had yet to figure out a way to fully activate the operating system. Instead pirates had to rely on third party KMS servers that would activate a copy for 6 months before it was required to be reactivated again. Not a huge deal but not exactly elegant, nor was it ideal either.
