Click & Grow Smartpot flowerpots get even smarter

Click & Grow Smartpot flowerpots get even smarter

Last month I posted a review of the Click & Grow Smartpot flowerpot and had a positive experience with it except for one important thing… Trying to grow a plant in Southern Indiana during the winter months, even with an auto watering flowerpot, just doesn't work that well due to short sunlight hours. The folks at Click & Grow must be listening to mine and others comments, because they have designed a new product looking for funding through Kickstarter. The Smart Herb Garden allows you to grow 3 different plants at one time and offers an LED lamp to make sure the plants always have the right amount of light.

GameStop: Nintendo Wii U Sales 'Disappointing'

GameStop: Nintendo Wii U Sales 'Disappointing'

The sales of the Nintendo Wii U have been a topic of interest for many gamers as it's obvious the company is having some trouble getting people to pick up its “next-gen” console. With only 64,000 units sold last month, it'll only be just a few short weeks until we hear how terribly it did in March, but GameStop's President Tony Bartel gave us a glimpse into how exactly the console is doing in its stores. During GameStop's earnings call yesterday, Bartel said the Wii U had a stronger-than-expected launch as the console initially sold out across its stores.

Cameras With WiFi Connectivity Could Be Hacked And Turned Into Spy Cams

One of the newer features that camera manufacturers have started to introduce to many of their cameras is built-in WiFi. What this means is that it allows photographers to transfer photos from the camera to another device, like a tablet, smartphone or computer, wirelessly, eliminating the need for additional cables. While it sounds like a convenient feature, it has been discovered at the hacker confere, Shmoocon 2013, that this WiFi feature might not be as safe as you think.

Google Maps Offers Live Transit Information In More Cities

Just how well do you know your own city. Is the amount of knowledge pretty much the same to knowing the back of your hand, and you will be able to put any of those freshies from local tour agencies to shame. Well, there is no better way to find out a city's "soul" than to take the public transport in getting around, and Google Maps have been helping folks do that for some years now.

Orbino Padova Mini for iPad mini review

Orbino Padova Mini for iPad mini review

Orbino has recently released its new Padova Mini Case for the iPad mini. Like its larger sibling, the miniPadova is a form-fitting flip-style case that is hand-stitched with thick waxed thread and constructed from fine Italian leather or rare animal skins. I have reviewed other Orbino accessories in the past and have yet to be disappointed in their fit, function, style, or top-shelf quality. So, let us see if the Padova Mini lives up to its pedigree and reputation.

The Padova Mini case fits the iPad mini like a fine leather glove. The smaller iPad slides into the case from the top.

Suzuki ending auto sales in Canada, too

Suzuki of Japan has reportedly made the decision that almost everyone assumed it would make when it announced it was leaving the US market: when the 2014 model year concludes, it will no longer sell cars in Canada. With six employees overseeing its auto business in Canada and a dealer network that has shrunk to 55 outlets in the country, we can't say we're shocked.

Brain Scan Could Determine Potential Repeat Offenders

Have you watched Minority Report before. What if you lived in a society where it is possible to be deemed by some sort of computer algorithm that you are more prone to committing a certain type of crime. Life's definitely not a beach then, as having a potentially heinous intent is very different from carrying out the crime itself. Well, Wired has brought us word that there are select individuals in the world who were discovered to have approximately double the likelihood of being rearrested within four years after being released to society.

Japan's Industrial Robotics Situation: it's Interesting. Seriously!

Sweet, More J-Robots. …Oh. Industrial Robots. Okay, today will not be heroic rescue & recovery robots, nor life-changing assistive robots for the disabled and elderly. No, today we're talking Japan's industrial robots, and through profound statistics, talk of money, and wildly general projections for the future, we're going to spice up this dry robot salad.

Now, industrial robots are basically super-strong, super-precise, fantastically dexterous multi-jointed arms that do pretty much exactly what they look like they should: welding, machining, painting, assembly, etc.

2014 Range Rover Sport drops 800 pounds, adds V6 and third-row

The last in line is not nearly the least, as evidenced by the 2014 Range Rover Sport, which is being unveiled to what we're sure will be the delight of New York audiences. The middle child in the Land Rover Range Rover line-up, our initial impression is that, in terms of exterior design, it might have succumbed to the anonymity of middle-child-dom, losing the strength of its character for having to wear a couple of hand-me-downs from its bigger Range Rover sibling and a ton of hand-me-ups from its smaller Evoque sibling.

Listen, we like Kelly Ripa Kristen Chenoweth (Kelly is apparently on vacation) and Michael Strahan as much as the next auto-obsessed blogging website. but to reveal the new 2014 Chevy Camaro on the talk show ahead of its official unveiling at the New York Auto Show strikes us as a rather strange choice. Regardless, that's what we're dealing with – the talk show hosts were the first people to pull the covers off the new Camaro, and you can see the results above. Additionally, one lone low-res image was published on the talk show website, and we enlarged it, reduced noise and sharpened it as much as we could.

Nintendo 3DS System Update Brings New Enhancements

Nintendo 3DS System Update Brings New Enhancements

I find it interesting that these days, most hardware have the ability for you to upload, or "flash" it with the latest firmware in order to further enhance said device's performance – something that was definitely not done in the past. Well, Nintendo of Japan has just announced a downloadable update for the Nintendo 3DS which is said to throw in a new function to the hand-held portable gaming system. One of the items that will be featured in the firmware update would be a tool that enables Nintendo 3DS users to transfer save data from the packaged version of a game to the downloadable version.

Which is the most frequently viewed animated GIF on the Internet. I am not quite sure about whether porn ads would fall under this category, but it would be safe to assume that hugely popular stuff like the Nyan Cat would be part of the animated GIF revolution. After all, if a picture is able to speak a thousand words, imagine just how about an image that has several frames within it will be able to tell its story. For those who do spend plenty of time on their Google+ social network, you might be well pleased to hear that Google+ now supports the use of animated GIFs as your profile image.

Firaxis Displays XCOM Trailer - What's Up?

For fans of computer games, surely you would have had heard of XCOM: Enemy Unknown in the past. That was one real time strategy game, where you had to race against time to help fend off an alien invasion, and getting the right kinds of upgrades were definitely important so that you are off on the right footing in order to send those foul beasts back to whence they came from, often times salvaging their technology and fashioning weapons to fight back. At PAX East, Firaxis debuted a spanking new trailer that did not drop too many details, although it did show off several elements that XCOM fans would find familiar.

It is merely been two months since Blockbuster UK announced that it had ended up in administration. That's the UK's version of filing Chapter 11. An investment bank called Gordon Brothers Europe has bought Blockbuster. The sum has not been disclosed. They're reportedly going to keep it open, thus saving approximately 2,000 out of the 4,000 jobs that the DVD stores were providing. Only half of all stores will remain open, rest of them are going to be closed.

There are 528 Blockbuster DVD stores in the United Kingdom. That leaves 264 stores which will continue to function.

Chrysler thinking of taking on Ford SVT Raptor?

Chrysler thinking of taking on Ford SVT Raptor?

An argument could be made that Chrysler already offers a competitor to the much-loved Ford Raptor in the form of the Ram Runner pickup. The difference, though, is that Ford builds the Raptor right on the production line, whereas Ram requires the buyer to have modifications made at one of its dealerships after the initial purchase is made. That distinction may soon be a thing of the past, according to a report from Wards Auto. "If we could see that the volume was significant enough that it makes sense to do it, we'll do it," says Pat Dougherty, vice president of Mopar parts, sales and field operations.

No further comment was made, and WiFiSLAM hasn't commented at all on the deal.

Younger buyers leaving Japanese for South Korean, American brands

Younger buyers leaving Japanese for South Korean, American brands

Edmunds has taken a closer look at the buying habits of young adults. As it turns out, Gen X and Gen Y buyers are increasingly eschewing Japanese brands in favor of South Korean and American automakers. Five years ago, that wasn't the case, with more than half of all young buyers flocking to brands like Nissan, Honda, Toyota, Subaru and Mazda. But the U.S. has made up quite a bit of ground in recent years by producing inexpensive and fuel efficient small cars that appeal to a younger audience.

Tucked into the press release for the "display debut" of the Volvo V60 Plug-In Hybrid at the New York Auto Show, Volvo snuck in a single line announcing that it will also be introducing a new model for the North American market. As much as we'd love to see the svelte V40 on American roads, we're pretty sure the automaker is looking to fill its US station wagon void with the V60. The 2014 Volvo V60 is part of a comprehensive lineup update that was unveiled earlier this month in Geneva, and it would give Volvo dealers a conventional wagon (not including the XC70) for the first time since the V70 and V50 were killed off.
