CompuLab to serve fanless AMD PC-3's stuffed with minted penguin

With the Ubuntu variant Mint roaming free as one of the more attractive Linux breeds, why not lock it up in its own mini-case. That'll happen soon thanks to mintBox, a joint venture with CompuLab, which will put the OS in two of its fanless PC-3's - the T40N and T56N - priced at $476 and $518, respectively. That might seem steep for the tiny 6 x 6 x 1-inch AMD G-series boxes, but with a Radeon HD 6290 APU and USB 3.0 / eSata ports, power is above par for its class.

MotoCzysz aims to refashion TAC Motors' Stark into an eco-friendly off-roader

Imagine barreling through the Amazonian rainforest with machetes flailing from the windows of your off-road rig, and just as you're about to kick the vehicle into low gear, you pause to consider the impact of your vehicle's exhaust (among other things) on the delicate ecosystem around. Fortunately for eco-minded folks, Portland-based EV manufacturer MotoCzysz - creator of the wicked E1pc electric motorcycle - plans to allay some of those concerns with its all-electric eStark SUV. For the basis of the vehicle, the company has turned to Brazilian auto manufacturer TAC Motors.

Good Samaritans dragged away in flood trying to save motorist

It takes less than two feet of moving flood water to carry off a vehicle, and while that's a disturbingly small amount, the number drops to just six inches when it comes to sweeping an adult off of their feet. A handful of residents in Barranquilla, Colombia recently discovered this fact the hard way when flood waters made local streets impassible. As one woman tried to navigate her car away from the swift water, the engine stalled. When it became apparent she was unwilling to abandon her property, a group came out to help.

Google Accuses Microsoft and Nokia of Harvesting Patent Trolls – Files Antitrust Complaint In Europe

Google, who is facing antitrust complaints on European and South Korean fronts, is going on the offensive today, filing their own complaint with the European Commission over accusations that really aren't too surprising. According to Google, Microsoft and Nokia — whom are currently in cahoots with MS's Windows Phone OS — are making some dirty, back alley agreements with a company called Mosaid. Apparently, Mosaid — who's infamous for filing WiFi patent infringement claims — is being handed 1,200 wireless-related patents in exchange for sharing some of the revenue gained from lawsuits with Microsoft and Nokia.

Samsung Series 5 550 Chromebook Review

It has been about one year since Google released new Chromebooks, which are laptops running on Google's Chrome OS, a Linux-based Operating system that revolves around one thing: the Chrome web browser. If you are unfamiliar with the concept, the idea is that every application that you run with Chrome OS is web-based (a website) and runs in the Chrome browser. Google fundamentally believes that this is a great alternative and a more secure way of computing because everything is inherently isolated, so there's less chances that your computer may be compromised.

Pontificating onstage at D10, Apple CEO Tim Cook was inevitably queried by Kara Swisher and Walt Mossberg about the ongoing Apple TV rumors, though for now he only referred to the company's existing set-top box. He revealed that Apple sold 2.8 million of the hockey pucks last year and has already moved 2.7 million in 2012. As Steve Jobs did repeatedly before him, he mentioned that TV is something “many people would say that this is an area of their life that they aren't pleased with” and explained Apple's key questions: Can we control the key technology.

To deal with the urgent needs of the highway infrastructure system and, if possible, add capacity, states need a lot more money than they currently have. Unable to get more from Congress, since Congress remains opposed to raising the gas tax, states are asking for the right to skip the gas-pump middleman and go straight to your wallet in the form of toll roads.
