LG teases that Optimus G will have 768p gapless display, long-lifespan battery

LG must know that word of the Optimus G has been spoiled, even if it's not quite ready to put all its cards on the table. While it's only acknowledging the phone's identity under a 'G' codename, the Korean electronics giant is willing to talk a lot about what's under the hood. Among the truly new revelations: that uncommonly wide 1,280 x 768 screen, now called the G2 Touch Hybrid Display, is a 30 percent thinner gapless panel that puts the LCD right near the glass in a way that just might be familiar to HTC One X owners.

Jury finds Apple did not infringe on Samsung's patents, awards no damages

The jury in Apple v. Samsung dealt a big blow to Samsung by finding that it did infringe on some of the Apple patents at the center of the case, and it didn't have any better news for the company when it came to Samsung's own claims that Apple infringed on some of its patents as well. The jury found that Apple did not infringe on those in all five cases (the so-called utility patents), although it did rule that the patents were valid.

Most soldiers who fight on the battlefield wear some sort of face paint for camouflage purposes, and these tend to comprise of oil and wax, which will actually melt when exposed to intense heat. As we all know, the battlefield is not a place for the faint hearted, where it comes with its fair share of bombs and artillery which deliver intense heat and all round destruction. US scientists have managed to come up with a new kind of camouflage skin paint that has been touted to be able to withstand intense heat.

With earlier expansions such as Burning Crusade where the cap was 70, being limited to level 20 wasn't so bad and the disparity wasn't that great. Cao Gadgets is attempting to fill that niche with its functionally named Wireless Sensor Tags - small devices which monitor movement and temperature, notifying you if anything's amiss. A magnetometer registers movement by changes in its orientation, and can inform you of door openings or similar disturbances, while the temperature triggers are based on upper or lower thresholds.

Each week Joshua Fruhlinger contributes This is the Modem World, a column dedicated to exploring the culture of consumer technology. I love movies and books about ghosts and aliens, especially the older ones from an era when technology didn't allow too many special effects. For me, it's what you don't see that freaks me out. Scariest scene ever? George C. Scott, center of frame, approaches a staircase in 1980's "The Changeling." You see him from a landing above, a voyeuristic angle with wooden rail near field. Focus shifts to his eyes. As he walks to the stairs, they lock onto something halfway up. They widen. He sees something.

Sony's (SNY) plan to introduce an 80-inch XBR LED television set with 4K resolution is said to be the start of a larger scheme to push 4K on consumers, much like 3D was a huge push in the industry a couple of years ago. Since 3D isn't gaining much traction, Sony (and we'd assume the rest of the industry) is betting on 4K as a way to get consumers to upgrade their home entertainment devices. Sony is already selling 4K Blu-ray players for $200, and the company's next-generation PlayStation 4 will indeed support 4K resolution playback as well, a source tells us.

Samsung Galaxy S DUOS announced

If you are looking for a new smartphone from Samsung's stable of Galaxy devices, then you might want to take a look at the Samsung Galaxy S DUOS (which was leaked at the end of July) if the Galaxy S3 is out of your financial league at this point in time. It has been announced that the Samsung Galaxy S DUOS will be released sometime this September in Europe, before it rolls out across other territories. You will not be able to enjoy Android 4.1 Jelly Bean right out of the box though, as the Samsung Galaxy S DUOS will still come with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.
