NACTOY changes truck award to 'Truck/Utility of the Year'

This year's selection for North American Truck of the Year was something of a sign of the times as the pool of nominees didn't really fit the traditional definition of "truck" – beasts of burden with features like a low range, open bed and/or body-on-frame construction. Not only were all three finalists crossovers (including the winning 2012 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque), but so were the other four on the short list of nominees.

. In an attempt to evade U.S. prosecution, Julian Assange's investors are said to be in the process of moving Wikileaks's servers offshore, according to Fox News. Multiple unnamed sources spoke with the news network and said Assange's financial backers have been going through the logistics of moving the servers to international waters. “They can keep running Wikileaks and nobody can touch them," a source told Fox News. "If you get a certain distance away from any land then you're dealing with maritime law … They can't prosecute him under maritime law. He's safe.

McLaren denies plans to switch engine suppliers

For 15 years, McLaren was the F1 team of choice for Mercedes-Benz, enjoying a near-works level of support and collaboration from the German automaker. But as you may recall, Daimler bought its own team three seasons ago: the outfit that started out as British American Racing, then became Honda before branching out as Brawn GP, was rebranded Mercedes GP under its latest management and now rechristened Mercedes AMG Petronas. And ever since, McLaren has had to deflect speculation that it was looking for a new engine supplier.

Nokia Lumia 910 appears online featuring 12-Megapixels camera

When Nokia Lumia 900 was revealed at CES'12 recently, it was greeted with much fanfare due its form factor as well as the fact that it was among Nokia's ticket to re-enter the North American market. However, since it is a LTE-based device, the chances of seeing the 4.3-inch Windows Phone device at non-LTE market could be very slim. Then...comes along this Lumia 910.

No next generation consoles for 2012 from Sony or Microsoft

No next generation consoles for 2012 from Sony or Microsoft

Earlier today, we brought you word from Cedrick Delmax, marketing director of Microsoft France, that there will not be a new version of the Xbox 360 rolling out later this year, which means the Xbox 360 still has some years down the road to go. Makes perfect sense really, considering the worldwide economic climate at the moment that requires most folks to tighten their belts, and research and development into a new console platform is always an expensive affair. As for Microsoft's bitter rival in the home console market, Sony too, will not issue a PS3 successor, according to CEO of Sony France, Philippe Cardon.

Facebook extends online display ads lead over Yahoo

In a matter of days ahead of an initial public offering, Facebook announced that their lead in the online display advertising market has jumped, growing to 27.9% for 2011, which is nearly 8% more compared to 21% just a year back – at least, according to new data which was released by research firm comScore Inc. This means Facebook is pulling even further away from their closest competitor, Yahoo Inc., who holds 11% of the display-ad market at the moment, growing ever so slightly from 10.9% in 2010. Even further behind the pack would be Microsoft Corp. and Google Inc., where they have just less than 5% each.

The world would be considerably less entertaining if we could all predict the future. Even so, the classic car gurus at Hagerty Insurance have cast a few chicken bones in an attempt to figure out which vehicles produced today might eventually turn collectible. The company restricted entrants to hardware with a price tag of less than $100,000, so the list isn't populated with too many wild exotics.

Thanks to an APK made available by mnomaanw of XDA Forums, we now can. But it doesn’t stop there. Also bootable with minimal hassle are Windows 98 and XP as well as Linux. The specific method does require a bit of technical know-how, but full instructions are available on at the originating thread. You can get all the files you need there, as well.

Third-party Steam apps being removed from the Android Market?

Nothing like a little controversy to add a dash of excitement to another Monday, right. With an official Steam app promised for months but few signs that a release would happen in a timely manner, several developers took up the online gaming service's freely available API and crafted it into a number of not-so-bad mobile clients. Everything was all hunky-dory until Valve finally launched the official version last week. Now third-party alternatives are dropping from the Android Market faster than terrorist baddies in Counter-Strike.

How much does it cost to license Microsoft's latest and greatest mobile OS. A fair bit it seems. Pegged at $27 per ZTE smartphone, TrustedReviews managed to get those licensing beans spilled at the glitzy London launch of the company's first Windows Phone, the ZTE Tania. The fee flies in the face of open-source Android, which requires no price to install on handsets.

For 2012, the funky little Nissan Note is getting some upgrading for its top two trims, the oddly named Acenta and N-TEC+, while the Note lineup itself is getting some downsizing. Outside, the Acenta sits on 16-inch wheels now and gets "chrome-effect" caps on the side-view mirrors and around the front fog lights. Inside, items like climate control and automatic headlights are standard, as is a blue cross-stitching on the seats for "a more premium feel.". Above that, in the UK, the new N-TEC+ trim is now the top-of-the-line model, as the former top-tier Tekna is going away.
