
While Nokia remains slightly unpopular in North America, the Finnish phonemaker remains a dominant brand according to the latest figures from International Data Corporation (IDC). The report says the the top three smartphone manufacturers in the world are Nokia, Samsung, and Apple, in that order. This is actually Apple's first time to creep into the coveted Top 3, which may come as a surprise to many casual techies. The company formerly led by the late Steve Jobs takes 8.7 percent of the world market, overtaking erstwhile third-placer LG. Meanwhile, Samsung and Nokia duke it out with 22.8 and 26.6 percent respectively.
