Some fascinating new figures on today's smartphone scene have been published by the IDC, which claims Android models accounted for 59% of global smartphone shipments during Q1 of 2012. Apple's iOS was obviously in second place, powering 23% of all smartphones. The data shows that 152 million smartphones were shipped in the first quarter of 2012, which, as the mathematically minded of you out there will already have worked out, means Google's OS was on some 89.9 million phones….
…an increase of 145% over the 36.7 million is shipped in the same quarter of 2011.
