The FBI announced that it has arrested 16 people, 14 of which are believed to belong to the hacker network Anonymous. Four additional took place in The Netherlands and in Great Britain. The arrests in the U.S. are the result of a total of 35 search warrants in New York, California, Florida and Nevada, the FBI said.
However, the arrests are not tied to the recent wave of attacks, but to hacking activities that were launched in support of Wikileaks, and apparently especially the DDoS attack against PayPal following their decision not to forward donation to Wikileaks in December 2010.
